Rockland County Guidance Center offers regular workshops and career seminars and is committed to helping those over the age of 55 find employment through its 60+ program. There are no fees for the 60+ program and enrollment is open to county residents age 55+.

Rockland SCORE is designed to mentor small business owners and those looking to transition into business ownership. Help with writing and evaluating business plans is available.
VESID (Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities) provides vocational counseling and rehabilitation services. The Spring Valley office hosts orientation sessions for applicants on a weekly basis. Application information is available on the Web site.

Career Services Databases
The Tappan Library offers in-house access to Learning Express Library . In addition, free to Tappan card-holders, the Library offers remote access to this service. This resource offers self-paced tutorials designed to hone in on a job-seeker's career interests and help with practical resume and cover-letter writing and interview skills. Learning Express also offers civil service exam prep across a wide range of vocations.

Newly available remote access to Value Line Investment Survey a comprehensive source of information and advice on approximately 1,700 stocks in 98 industries, the stock market, and the economy.Remote access to the business database is available to Tappan card-holders.
All publicly held companies (foreign and domestic) are required to file periodic reports with the US Securities and Exchange Commission through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download this information for free. Search for a company filing by company or fund name, ticker symbol, central index key, or find more search options. Filings date back to 1994.
Resume and Cover Letter Building Software
The Tappan Library offers Word 2007 and its library of resume templates on all public machines. Stop in and take advantage of the variety of resume designs and work with a trained librarian to navigate through the Word 07 resume and cover-letter designs to choose a template that works best for you.
